Urban Engagement Session in Historic Downtown Albany

I had so much fun with Nicole & Evan earlier this summer when I photographed their urban engagement session. A few few earlier Nicole and Evan called me to confirm they wanted to hire me as their wedding photographer. At the time I was sitting in my car in the Mission district in San Francisco. I had not met them, because from the moment that they reached out to me I had been on an extended traveling trip. (You can read about that here, and see some photos). It made me nervous not having met them, but based on our many phone calls leading up to that moment I had decided I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with them. I’m so glad I trusted my gut and took these two on as my clients!

I photographed their engagement session at their apartment with their adorable puppy. After they had finished their popcorn and drinks we all headed outside to catch the sunset.

While parks and open nature spaces can be beautiful, urban engagement sessions have their own magic. Walking just a few steps in front of a new building can totally change the mood. Another great thing about choosing an urban setting is possibility of stopping for coffee.

When I spoke with Nicole & Evan I didn’t know that in a few months I would be living in the same area that I was in at that moment. Ok, so not exactly the same place, I’m on the other side of the Bay – but Oakland is pretty close to San Francisco in the grand scheme of things!
